Authors Guild Launches Expanded Human Authored Certification Program

The Authors Guild opened its Human Authored certification to all authors with US-published books, after a members-only beta. The rules are explicit: the text itself must be written by humans, with only de minimis AI (think spell-check tier); brainstorming or indexes don't disqualify you, but generated prose does. Verified authors can use the mark on covers, copyright pages, and marketing; non-members pay per title, while Guild members still get it without that fee.

The Guild also plans bulk licensing for publishers and keeps a public lookup so readers can check a title. If you're tired of AI-slop listings crowding storefronts, it's one structured way to signal authenticity - without claiming you never touched a computer - while the industry argues over detection tools and disclosure.
